STRATEGY FOR WOUNDS
By using the strategy below, you will already be well on your way to reducing the number of flies around wounds, udders and genitalia.
Wounds on horses, lactation and secretions from udders and genitalia are areas particularly impacted by flies and this can cause great irritation to the horses. The irritation among the horses can be seen by them standing and stomping the ground. FlyTape is a newly developed product which is currently being patented. This simple but highly effective product quickly catches the irritating and disease-carrying flies. FlyTape has a unique property in that it can be attached to anywhere on the horse.
Use FlyTape in a particularly troublesome area by placing FlyTape close to a wound, the inner thigh by the udders or the genitals. The irritating and disease-carrying flies will be caught in no time. Repeat the process as needed.
FlyTape is sold in a 5-pack with the FlyTapes measuring 54 cm in length and 7 cm in width. The tape can be cut down to whatever size you need, but it is long enough to reach around the horse’s legs and to bind together with the adhesive.
FlyTape consists of a transparent film with non-toxic adhesive on both sides and protective paper which should be removed during use.
Begin by removing one side of the protective paper so that the adhesive is exposed. Then place the adhesive side of FlyTape against the fur in the desired spot. Next, remove the protective paper on the outer side and FlyTape will be ready to start catching flies. Do not place the tape on top of a wound - put it next to it instead.
