Strategi folden
Ved at følge nedenstående strategi er du godt på vej til at reducere flueplagen omkring stalden folden.
Strategy for the paddock
The fly affliction is particularly difficult to handle in the paddock because horses are naturally curious and destroy many flytrap devices. There are many paddock solutions to protect horses against the annoying and disease-carrying flies and solutions to chase away the flies. Now that it is a fact that a fly lives for 10 days and turns into 500 new flies, it is a better strategy to catch the flies, so the propagation stops. You can, for example, use the patented product FlyPad. Flies swarm the horse's head a lot. They do this for the natural reason of ingesting fluids and protein from the horse’s eye discharge. The FlyPad exploits this attraction area by placing the FlyPad fly catcher close to the horse's eyes.
Strategy for the paddock
This is achieved by clicking the FlyPad onto the chin strap of halter used in the paddock. The flies swarm a lot and will be caught when they sit on the adhesive, attractive glue on the FlyPad.
By following the strategy below you will be well on your way to reducing the fly affliction in the paddock.
- Buy the FlyPad box with an adapter and 10 glue pads.
- Have a specific halter that is fitted with the FlyPad to use in the paddock.
- Use this fold halter whenever you think there are too many flies in the fold. Remove it from the horse when you have finished catching flies after a few hours.
- Only use the fold halter with FlyPad once the horse has rolled over. Otherwise the adhesive will be filled with dirt and grass and it will not work properly.
- Repeat the process on a regular basis when the flies become too much of a nuisance.
- If others around you have horses as well get them involved in the strategy and action against flies.
