Strategies for the stable
Ved at følge nedenstående strategi er du godt på vej til at reducere flueplagen omkring stalden folden.
01 STABLES
Be aware of:
- that, the flies only live for 10 days and produce 500 eggs
- that, the flies swarm and warm themselves in sunny spots that are preferably sheltered from the wind
- that, the flies swarm around heads or wounds to ingest vital protein and fluids
02 STABLE
Be aware of:
- that, they need heat which is why they sit and warm themselves in the sun.
- that, they need fluids and protein which is why they swarm the horse's head or wounds to ingest significant fluids and protein directly from the wound or from the eye discharge.
- that, they need a place to lay their eggs. Fresh manure is optimal which is why flies are often seen around fresh horse manure. Fresh manure has the right level of moistness. After 1 to 2 hours in the sun it is no longer useful to the flies since it has become too dry.
Horse manure lying in the shadow of the barn is valuable to the flies for a longer time. Damp stables that are not cleaned properly and daily is also an optimal place for flies to lay their eggs. The dunghill is also an optimal nesting place.
01. Strategy
The foundation in the stall should not be thicker than it is possible to keep relatively dry all the way through.
06. Strategy
Clean the stall daily.
03. Strategy
Pick up the manure when noticed. Have a bucket or wheelbarrow standing close by to use for continuous pick up. Remember to cover the bucket or wheelbarrow with a cloth so the flies do not have access to the manure.
04. Strategy
The fly larvae in the stall will always crawl towards the walls. Whitewash the walls with a thin layer in the stall. The fly larvae will die but whitewashing is natural and will not harm the horses.
05. Strategy
Never use poison. Poison kills all other useful insects in the stables as well. The useful insects help eat some of the fly larvae.
06. Strategi
The dunghill should be kept in a defined area. It must always be covered by a tarp because:
a) The tarp keeps flies from laying eggs. b) The sun will warm up the dunghill through the tarp so larvae and eggs die.
b. Solen vil gennem presenningen varme møddingen op så flueæg og larver vil dø

07. Strategy
There will still be flies in the stables. These will often be taking in the sun or sitting on hot surfaces. Since we know that one fly will turn into 500 in only 10 days they need to be caught.
08. Strategy
This is easily done by using the FlyPad TRIANGLE. Place it in an area with fly activity. It can be placed on the floor or hung on the wall. The TRIANGLE attracts the flies with its color and the lure that is mixed into the glue. A non-toxic glue that the flies cannot escape from.
09. STRATEGI
During the winter you will find that some flies were designed to survive the cold. These flies appear along with the sun in the early spring. If you catch them, the coming propagation will be severely weakened.
